A good many years ago, I was asked to write a Regency novella in which winter and a kitten would play an important part in the romance.

I asked, "Can't I make it a puppy?"

"No, kittens sell," was the answer.

Well, I managed to fit a puppy as well as a kitten into my story, Wooing Mariana. It was published under the title
A Kiss and a Kitten in an anthology, Snowflake Kittens.

The German rights were sold, and the anthology came out as Liebe kommt auf weichen Pfoten (love comes on soft paws), with my story titled Wie Hund und Katze (like cat and dog--or vice versa).

Great!

Then it came out again in German, in hardcover, with a new picture (I can't find an image of that--must scan it sometime).

Then it came out again in German, in a new paperback edition.

And now it's coming out AGAIN in German--I'm not sure whether this edition is hc or pb, but one way or another, my kitten, Pirate, is making good use of its many lives.

Apparently my puppy, Lyuba, has quite a few, too!

The story is also available in English in an e-anthology, My Dearest Valentine, under its original title, Wooing Mariana, along with two more of my Regency novellas, Frost Fair and A Maid at your Window, at RegencyReads.com.
