A couple of months ago I got a phone call from a couple who were just beginning a life on the road in a motor home. Their aim was to visit and interview as many authors as possible. As they started out from Portland, Oregon, I was their third or fourth subject.

They arrived armed  with lights and video camera and questions. We had a delightful visit. Then they drove on. I heard from them once or twice, an email and a greetings card for the holidays. They were having trouble with their vehicle and were way behind on editing and processing the videos they'd shot.

But just today I heard my interview has been posted. I haven't looked at it yet, so if you go and watch it right now, you can leave a comment here (and there, I expect) and warn me if I really don't want to watch myself making a fool of myself!

Half the fun of a multi-author signing is chatting with your fellow-authors. Seen here, Ann Herrick, author of many children's and YA books, and Suzy, author of a book about the history of Eugene's Saturday Market (pic taken by LJ Sellers, author of a mystery series set in Eugene--first book The Sex Club).

The other half of the fun--well, call it 45%, leaving a bit for the fun of having people buy one's books--is just watching people. My favourite sights: A father dancing past to the beat of the band with his baby in his arms; Darth Vader (or was he a Jedi Knight?) coaxing a small scared child--first he went down on one knee, then a high five, then shake hands, and at last into the crook of his armoured arm for a photo. Good job his armour was white and it wasn't too hot a day or he'd have cooked!

(The reason my hand is raised to Ann's chin is not that I was socking her one but I'd been trying to tidy my hair for the pic. It was very windy.)
